Motorcycle towing frames (New)

Motorbike carrier frames are a quick convenient and easy to use method of towing a motorbike. Strong secure and stable they provide an inexpensive way to transport your motorcycle.

Why spend hundreds on a trailer.

Used for many year in America towing heavy bikes such as Harley’s and choppers many 1000s of miles in complete safety, they are now available in the UK.

I have used my carrier for many years, towing many different motorcyles and find it the most convienientand stable way to transport a motorbike.

An adapter is bolted to the tow bar between the Tow Ball and the Tow Bar, and remains in place allowing you to use the tow bar normally.

The Carry Frame slots into the adapter from the top and two side arms are slid into the adapter side to provide tie down points for ratchet straps.

Will accommodate any tyre size up to 6″.

To keep cost down use a 6″ x 2″ peice of wood abour 900 cm long for a ramp. (Not supplied)

The bike is towed in neutral so there is no wear on the chain, engine or rear tyre.

Many types of motorcycles from Minis and Motocross to sports bikes or choppers can be towed with the Carrier.

They can also be used for recovery of broken down Motorbikes.

No storage or security problems as you would have with a trailer.

Supplied in either a Powder Coated finish or a zinc/gold coloured electroplated rust proof finish.

Price is only £129 plus £15 next working day delivery. UK mainland.

How To Assemble The ‘A’ Frame

assembly1_large

1. Assemble the unit on the ground in front of the vehicle to be towed. When connecting the two rear legs ensure the chain posts are on top and the legs are secured in to the frame with the pins provided.

2. Adjust legs outwards then slide unit under the vehicle to be towed. Lift up the chain post at the end of the leg and feed the chain from the front over the lower suspension member/axel. The chain will drop down at the back and should now be pulled foward from underneath on the inside of the leg so the chain post is ‘snug’ up to the front of the suspension member. Attach the chain into the joiner link on the strap and take out the slack by tightening up the ratchet. Do not let chain drag on the ground. Do not attach by the end link, ensure at least three or four links are passed through joiner link. Simply attach other leg. Check that the wheels will clear legs when cornering. The crossbar can now be swung around and located into any convenient hole. Tighten up the wing nuts and ratchet at least two or three times.

3. Do not attach the chains to the Anti Roll Bar, Drive shafts or any part of the steering mechanism. On some vehicles it is more convenient to attach to chassis cross member, either in front of, or under, the engine. The recovery vehicle needs to be reversed into line, as straight and as close as possible for the attachment to the tow bar.

BEFORE DRIVING OFF ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE

A. Checked condition and fitting of unit.
B. Ball coupling correctly fitted.
C. Gear lever in neutral.
D. Handbrake released.
E. Steering released, leave key in ignition and turn to first position.

  • When setting off, ensure you have forward motion before going into a turn.
  • Drive carefully and steadily, do not forgot you are towing another vehicle.
  • Anticipate and brake in plenty of time, especially in the wet.
  • Slow down in plenty of time approaching junctions; after stopping ensure you have forward motion before turning.
  • Do not turn steering wheel when stationary.
  • Always fit a lighting board to the rear vehicle.
  • Check with car manufacturer (see handbook) for the limitations on towing automatics.
  • Broken down vehicle not to exceed 75% of weight of towing vehicle.
  • On some towing vehicles it may be necessary to lower the height of the tow ball with a drop plate.
  • It is a condition of sale that the use of this equipment is beyond our control, it is up to the user to ensure the correct, proper and safe use of this equipment.
